Ease of Doing Business: Enabling a conducive business environment that nurtures growth opportunities and financial investments is a pre-requisite to build an Inclusive and Developed Nation. The government has unfolded a slew of progressive policy steps aimed at improving the country’s business environment. These include taxation reforms, merging multiple identification numbers into a single form (SPICe) for company incorporation, insolvency and bankruptcy code among others. India jumped 79 positions from 142nd (2014) to 63rd (2019) in 'World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Ranking 2020’. PWIF seeks to assist the government in plugging the loopholes in design and implementation of policy and suggest solutions to strengthen efforts in weaker domains.
Agriculture: Despite a record production of major agricultural produce and rise in exports, India’s farm sector is still dogged by challenges. Traditionally, policies in the Indian agriculture sector have focused on productivity and subsidies, though poverty is an area of concern. This can be resolved by offering farmers the freedom to grow, what they want and sell to whoever they wish to indicate research and public discussions. PWIF aims to aid effective policy design solutions for agricultural reforms, specifically in management of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and its convergence with technology.
Judicial Reforms: As the world’s largest democracy India is governed by “The Three Pillar of Democracy” -- Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. Legal and judicial reforms need are critical to keep up with the modern era. In this backdrop, policy makers are looking at modifying the dilatory judicial procedures. Highlighting processes through time bound resolutions, alternative dispute resolution forums, simplifying procedural laws, encouraging mediation, and strengthening the judicial and court management system in order to increase accessibility are crucial to position India as an Inclusive and Fully Developed Nation.
Cultural Heritage & Languages of India: India has had a rich cultural heritage, much of which has been preserved, revived, though much has been lost and distorted as well. Revival of Bhartiya languages especially Sanskrit has also been a top priority for the government. PWIF aims to support crisp policy design solutions needed for the of revival and conservation of our rich cultural history through a series of dialects and languages (written and spoken) across the country and emphasized through cultural growth from ancient travel diaries and architectural marvels right from Ram Setu periods to the modern times.
Trade & Consumerism: PWIF intends aid in formulation of clear and balanced perspectives via a policy to promote the growth of ethical domestic & cross border trade and protecting the consumer and trading interests. This is most important considering today’s fast evolving digital economy wherein each trading stakeholder interest shall need to be addressed and skill enhancement for fair growth of everyone. We carry out various researches and discussions to better policy making around Intellectual Proprietary Rights and Copyrights protection and authentication mechanisms. We believe in furthering the cause of a balanced retail policy that takes into consideration the requirements of various stakeholders. We will also focus on enhancing consumer protection and safety through studies on progressive legislations and prevention of unfair trade practices and effective grievance redressal mechanisms.
Nationalism & National Security: As the oldest civilization on earth, India has unique assimilative abilities and a rich past. The issue of national security is as critical as the global competition over resources and dealing with societies linked to violence and conquest through means of warfare, religion and also, soft powers. Defending Indian way of life and the nation has led to a reciprocal linkage between nationalism and security. With new emerging security challenges and growing sentiments of new nationalism within the country, there’s an urgent need for a policy which factors these points. PWIF is extending its platform to various research and discussions forums, to ensure future security stability and understand by whom and how it will be provided in the future.
International Relations: A nation’s foreign affairs are closely integrated with its fundamental security and developmental priorities. While managing India’s immediate sub-continental neighborhood will remain a key priority, India’s relationship with other global powers and smaller countries beyond borders is equally significant. PWIF shall undertake various studies and dialogues to help policy making which bolsters India’s multilateral diplomacy capacities. Currently, the most defining challenges in the new millennium are cross-cutting and global. This requires an in-depth understanding of global collaborative responses which can be delivered through multilateral processes.
Economy: India is at the cusp of becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2026-27 and USD 10 trillion by2033-34 and is also one of the fastest-growing economies. Compared to others, it is much better placed regarding the availability of various tentpoles required for industrial growth. India offers enormous opportunities to international and domestic players to set up their footprint in a country with nearly 20% of the global population. PWIF assist various players in navigating their journey to be part of new reality India.
Education: India will have the largest number of young population, by 2030.Therefore quality skilling for future jobs and careers is the need of the hour. Besides retaining its historical roots, the education format must be of the highest quality and in sync with global standards. PWIF through its various interventions aims to create the most impactful workforce that will catalyze India as a global knowledge superpower and be an Inclusive and Developed Nation. This would entail research and discussions around infrastructure, vocation, life skills, Bhartiya languages, experiential learning among others.
Water Conservation, Environment & Sustainability: With the world moving towards a circular economy and the expanding threat of climate change, there is a critical need to conserve all natural sources of water: rivers, lakes, ponds to ensure life sustenance in all its forms. With population explosion and the increasing demand for natural resources, its critical that all cities, villages, towns, districts and states of India get access to clean water. PWIF aims at helping the government design policies that not only help clean rivers and provide clean water to the citizens, but also unfold initiatives that are environmentally friendly and bolster the government’s initiatives for water conservation.
Governance & Public Finance: As the world’s largest democracy, India’s governance is founded on a robust legal system. However, it has nuances that must be navigated delicately and balanced without disturbing any part of the legal ecosystem. Indian economy is a classic mix of market economy and government control of various resources to optimise the benefit for the larger audiences. Public finance plays a vital role in a resource scared country like India. With a strong comprehension of governance and public finance, PWIF helps to provide solutions to various stakeholders of society.
Political Research: We work towards providing the policy makers with strategic and actionableinsights and research to identify and disrupt dated concepts and philosophies. We aim to furtherthe cause of democracy, justice, and human rights through our endeavors. PWIF through itsvarious initiatives generates reports, discussion documents, articles, and other relevant tools;offers expert point of views for various media outlets and strives to provide a voice to thecommon person.
